Legion

OK so Marianne and I chose to do paradise lost, and at first we had no clue as to what we were going to do for our presentation, but finally we decided to show the movie Legion, It was not exactly like Paradise lost but it had some similarities. One of the quotes that I really liked from this movie is what Charlie said at the beginning:
"When I was a little girl, my mother would remind me each night before bed, to open up my heart to God, for He was kind, merciful, and just. Things changed when my father left a few years later, leaving her to raise me and my brothers in a place on the edge of the Mojave Desert. She never talked of a kind and merciful God again. Instead she spoke of a prophecy. Of a time when all the world would be covered in darkness and the fate of mankind would be decided. One night, I finally got the courage to ask my mother why God had changed, why He was so mad at His children. "I don't know," she said, tucking the covers around me, "I guess He just got tired of all the bullshit."

I started to wonder if this is why God would want to end what he had created, and I still wonder if one day he is going to get tired of how we act and how we treat each other. I think that we should all take the time to think about this quote and be thankful for what we have, but also reflect on how we act and we are not satisfied with it then we need to change because there is going to come a time where it is going to be too late to change. I believe that we should not take the opportunities life gives us for granted because there will come a day when we are going to think back on our life and think about all the opportunities we had and whether we took them or not. I know that I do not want to be the one thinking about what I could have done, I want to be the one saying I did that and that made me the strong and better person I am today.

  1. I really enjoyed reading Paradise Lost. I also really enjoyed watching the movie Legion! I had been wanting to see that for awhile. After we watched it I definitely could tell why you guys picked to watch that movie and how it related to Paradise Lost.
Plus I thought it was funny hearing Mrs. Watson yell at "scary" parts in the movie haha :)

  2. Though Legion was a bit too graphic, I still really enjoyed watching it because like you said it did carry very important similarities to Paradise Lost.

I know that I covered my face most of the time that we were watching it, but now that I look back on it I realize that I need to have courage, because in the future I will face scarier things in my life. This movie helped me develop that much needed courage, and at the same time it helped me connect the movie to the story in our english book.
