I really did not get into this play, I enjoyed it but not as much as the others. One reason that I did not enjoy it was because of how women were portrayed as a sex tool. They were refereed to as whores or sluts and I just feel that it would have been better if it did not have so many of them. I wonder if John Gay wrote this play for a reason or from experiences he had with women, or if this is what he thought of women.
I did enjoy The groups presentation today they made us act out which ever scene we wanted and Stevie and Victoria's group i think did the best they had me laughing the whole time.Jeopardy was also fun to play It was an activity that we had not done in this class before and I was sure my group was going to win, that is until we got to the last five minutes of class.

Legion
OK so Marianne and I chose to do paradise lost, and at first we had no clue as to what we were going to do for our presentation, but finally we decided to show the movie Legion, It was not exactly like Paradise lost but it had some similarities. One of the quotes that I really liked from this movie is what Charlie said at the beginning:
"When I was a little girl, my mother would remind me each night before bed, to open up my heart to God, for He was kind, merciful, and just. Things changed when my father left a few years later, leaving her to raise me and my brothers in a place on the edge of the Mojave Desert. She never talked of a kind and merciful God again. Instead she spoke of a prophecy. Of a time when all the world would be covered in darkness and the fate of mankind would be decided. One night, I finally got the courage to ask my mother why God had changed, why He was so mad at His children. "I don't know," she said, tucking the covers around me, "I guess He just got tired of all the bullshit."
I started to wonder if this is why God would want to end what he had created, and I still wonder if one day he is going to get tired of how we act and how we treat each other. I think that we should all take the time to think about this quote and be thankful for what we have, but also reflect on how we act and we are not satisfied with it then we need to change because there is going to come a time where it is going to be too late to change. I believe that we should not take the opportunities life gives us for granted because there will come a day when we are going to think back on our life and think about all the opportunities we had and whether we took them or not. I know that I do not want to be the one thinking about what I could have done, I want to be the one saying I did that and that made me the strong and better person I am today.

Paradise Lost
When I heard we were going to read paradise lost I thought that it was going to be very complicated because it was going to be very focused on religion. Its not that I am not religious because I am, I do go to church I am just not an expert on reading the bible, but for some reason knowing all that I still chose to do that poem for my group presentation, and to my surprise when I started to read it, yes, it was hard because of the language but I enjoyed it and I do not think that you have to know the bible really well to understand it.
I think that anyone can understand it if they tried to really read and comprehend it, but as I was reading it I just kept thinking is paradise really lost? or have we as humans just gotten off track and have become more focused on now and materialistic things over the spiritual side of us. I think that this is one of those readings where you finish reading and you just start reflecting on everything, especially the future, well at least that is what happened to me.

The Taming of the Shrew
I can honestly say this was my favorite play mainly because I had the no fear Shakespeare version, and I actually understood the play and what was going on. It really made think how much society has changed overtime back then girls were not able to choose who they wanted to marry it was more about who could provide the best, who had the power and the money.
Reading the story and getting to know the character Katherine I realized that she was just very up front about things and if you think about it, in society now most girls now are. It makes me wonder what the men from that time period would think if they saw how most girls act now, because women have become very independent. I'm glad that society has changed and that we now have the privilege to choose who we want to marry instead of it being our fathers choice.
Mary Queen Elizabeth of Scots
Mary Queen of Scotts was one of my favorite stories we have read because as I read I just wanted to know what was going to happen next. It was very depressing to read about what she went through and how everyone thought that she should give up the crown, and when she asked her cousin queen Elizabeth for help she actually thought that Mary queen of Scotts wanted to assassinate her so she had her locked up. But my question is did she really write those letters or was she just accused of murdering her husband? Honestly I do not think that she seem like the type of person to kill her husband but you never know the world is a crazy place.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
For this story we watched shrek and at first I was not sure how it related to the poem. I thought we were watching it because he was green and the title says Green Knight, after watching it i realized why that group had chosen that movie. Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a poem that focuses on the code of chivalry which is being brave, courteous, and having honor.
Shrek was a knight in this movie because he kept his word about bringing the princess to the king and by doing that in a way he also brought honor to himself. Though he and Fiona did not get along sometime, he did have respect for her and this shows he was a knight. I am really glad we read this story because if we had not I would have never thought of shrek as a knight.

Everyman
Everyman was good to read it really made me think about how society is today, are we more about spiritual things or materialistic? I think that society as a whole is more about the materialistic things in life because we want to live for the moment. You do not really think of it, its more like an impact you have but in the end is it really worth choosing material objects over being a spiritual? because what good is that going to do when you die?
